International Round Table
Illegal trade, grey market and parallel imports in Uzbekistan: an expert view on challenges and regulatory strategies
About
International roundtable with government, industry and NGOs focusing on illegal trade and grey imports across key sectors.
Overview
The goal is to discuss the scale, causes, and consequences of illegal trade, as well as the impact of the grey market and parallel imports in Uzbekistan. Special attention will be given to the sectors most vulnerable to shadow circulation — jewelry, construction, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and the FMCG sector.
The goal is to develop joint approaches to reduce the negative impact of these phenomena on the economy, legal businesses, and consumers, as well as to identify measures for increasing transparency and the competitiveness of key industries.
A comprehensive approach to addressing grey market and illegal trade issues will help strengthen the position of legitimate businesses, increase consumer trust, and ensure the sustainable development of Uzbekistan's economy. It is crucial to unite the efforts of government, business, and civil society to create a transparent and competitive environment.
